Vlady...

Its been 11 years since Vladimir Konstantinov suffered his life changing car accident days after winning the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings. I came across this article from ESPN.com a couple days ago where they looked back at the years since that tragic moment in his life.

I remember watching Vlady, he was one of the most physical hockey players I've ever had the privilege of watching. He was the type of player that you loved to have on your side, but feared playing against.

I personally enjoyed watching the video clip ESPN did on the development he has made since his coma. It's great to see that after all these years he is still welcomed around the Red Wings franchise as if nothing has happened. Konstantinov was my favorite Wings player back then because of his hard work and bone crushing hits. Now he provides an inspiration to others as he uses that hard work to regain his fundamental motor skills that most people take for granted.

I miss watching him roam the Wings defensive zone making opponents work for every inch of ice. However, I'm glad to see that he is making the most out of life after the car accident and that the media hasn't forgot about him either.
