According to the blog from MLive.com, http://blog.mlive.com/highlightreel/2009/05/kevin_smith_we_will_definitely.html, Detroit Lion's running back, Kevin Smith, stated in his blog on his personal website that the Lions will make the playoffs.
I am in favor of a professional athlete or anyone for that matter to be confident in their abilities, however, this seems a bit out there to me. Sure, you can't expect the guy to say, we're gonna lose 10 games this year, but, you can't be so outlandish in your claims either. My suggestion is to not say anything. Especially, until you taste your first victory as a professional football player. In my opinion, win a game before you start talking playoffs of heck just ask Jim Mora for his feelings on the matter.
I understand that Kevin is feeling good about the team's offseason acquisitions. Honestly you can't blame him either. However, its May, and the teams OTA's are just getting going and its way too early to think about that. I just hope that if he is serious in his claim, that he has a locker room full of guys with like thoughts.
Personally, I'd be happy with a win right now and then we'll go from there. Baby Steps!
